Cleaning Your Walls

When you are having guests and clients to your home or office, you want to make sure your walls are clean and presentable. While this might seem obvious, it is important to take the proper steps and use quality products. Here are some tips to keep your drywall looking fresh and your environment clean from us at Tall Pines Drywall.

Protect your floors from dust, soap and water by placing a towel or drop mat under the wall you are cleaning. Use a duster, vacuum, or tack cloth to get all the dust off your wall. If you have exposed drywall be sure to watch your use of water and other products on the surface, it is best to just dust it.

Cellulose Sponge

Next you can start scrubbing your walls with a cellulose sponge – great because they are made of bio-degradable materials that don’t harm the environment.

You don’t have to worry about adding any extra solutions to the sponge, just dampen the sponge in tap water. Begin wiping your walls from top to bottom, re-dampening the sponge when needed.

Tack cloths are great for cleaning your walls.

For tough stains on your walls, get a rag, a bucket of warm water, 1 tablespoon of non-coloured dish soap and 1/4 teaspoon of white vinegar. Wet your rag and remove the stain by rubbing over it in a circular motion.

Touch up your drywall paint for a fresh feel

If there are stubborn stains that won’t go away or you accidentally chipped paint in the process, consider concealing it with a touch up paint job. If possible use paint from the same can the walls were painted with, if not go out and purchase paint in the same colour AND sheen. Gently feather the area with the touch up paint and let it dry.
